    Engagement rate FAQ

Should I use followers or views for Reels and Shorts?

Use followers for the standard engagement rate. For Reels and Shorts, also check (likes + comments) ÷ views × 100, which shows how people who actually watched reacted. Compare creators on both.

Can a high engagement rate be a red flag?

Yes. A very high rate on a large account, with many generic comments like “Nice” or emojis only, can point to engagement pods or bought likes. Read the comments and check that likes are spread evenly across posts.

How many posts should I check?

Use the average of the last 10–12 regular posts. Leave out giveaways and viral outliers, which inflate the number.
